A Chinese defence official reacted to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth's remarks regarding threats from Beijing. China's representative at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore accused Hegseth of making “groundless accusations”. Hu Gangfeng, Vice President of China’s National Defence University, said that Hegseth's actions are nothing more than attempts to provoke trouble, incite division and stir up confrontation to destabilise the Asia-Pacific region.
